5 essential Spices to have in your cabinet

Spices can give a flavor boost to even the simplest reipes

So here it is. Sometimes we don’t want to eat. Or cook. Or get out of bed. Anxiety and depression can be paralyzing.

But when you’re able to make absolutely anything, no matter your skill or effort level, adding some spices can make it delicious with almost no extra work.

These are my 5 Essential Spices to always have in your cabinet. I know spices can be expensive. But these five are worth the investment for how much they will level up your cooking.

#1: Garlic Powder. Y’all- garlic powder is your new best friend. You can add it to ANYTHING and it will level it up. Eggs, mac and cheese, frozen pizza, anything. It’ll add a little flavor boost that will make you want to eat what you just made.

#2: Smoked Paprika. If garlic powder is your best friend, smoked pap is a very close second. This you can also put on almost anything. This spice is featured in so many cuisines, it’s a great way to add a little something extra to whatever you’re making.

#3: Cumin. Cumin is also featured in food from a lot of different countries, and adds some depth to a lot of recipes. Don’t sleep on this one.

#4: Crushed Red Pepper Flakes. Add a pop of spice to absolutely anything. Rice with butter and this feels like a meal. Pasta with butter and this? Same thing.

#5: Salt and pepper. Any kind of black pepper works. Remember that different salts can actually be different levels of salty. The blue box of Morton’s is muuuch saltier than the red box of diamond kosher. I recommend the red box, but if you have the blue, undershoot it a little in recipes
