Montana Buss Therapy

Hi, I’m Montana.

I spent four years in college exploring what I wanted to do with my life, but nothing felt quite right. I moved to LA after graduation with the goal of becoming a TV writer. I’ve always loved storytelling and watched more TV in high school and college than anyone I knew. To this day, I love it, but the industry still didn’t feel like the right place for me.
Though I met a lot of great people and spent time working on interesting projects, I felt unsettled working in the entertainment field. I was getting the sense that I wanted to be connecting with people on a deeper level and then…
.. the pandemic happened.
I was, like everyone, locked down. It was a challenging time for all of us, and I wasn’t immune to the mental health challenges that came from being unable to leave my house or see those I love the most.
I saw how my friends and the world at large were struggling with the loss of connection through tiktoks, tweets and instagram posts. And I noticed I was increasingly grateful to have such a helpful therapist of my own.
One day, during a session with my therapist, it happened. (If you’re not at least a little woo woo, feel free to skim down.) I looked at my therapist and realized- I wanted to be the one on the other side of the computer helping someone who was going through the types of things I was talking about. I felt called and applied to get my masters at Antioch University Los Angeles soon after.
I’ve been in therapy pretty consistently since I was 21 and I know firsthand how helpful it can be to have someone create space for you to share and be authentically yourself. And now I get to be that person for my clients.
